Lessons and Connections from FABTECH Chicago

This week, I had the opportunity to attend FABTECH in Chicago with my business partner from India, and I’m still buzzing from everything I saw, learned, and experienced. Events like this are reminders of how fast our industry is evolving and how important it is to stay connected, curious, and strategic.

The Technology

FABTECH did not disappoint. Everywhere I turned, there was innovation in automation, robotics, AI-driven solutions, and smarter fabrication equipment. The technology on display showed not only what’s possible today but also where manufacturing is headed tomorrow. I came away inspired by how far we’ve come and determined to help clients prepare for what’s next.

The Partnerships

Events like FABTECH aren’t just about machines and tech; they’re about people. I had several strategic partnership meetings that will open new doors for my clients and my network. Some of these were with people I have met in person, some with people I have known virtually for years, and some with new connections. These conversations reminded me that collaboration is the multiplier for growth.

The Chicago Experience

Of course, no trip is complete without experiencing the city. I stayed in West Town, which gave me easy access to great neighborhoods and food. Highlights included:

  • Kasama, a Michelin-starred Filipino spot that lived up to the hype.
  • Lou Malnati’s, because you can’t visit Chicago without indulging in deep dish.
  • Elia, a warm and memorable Turkish restaurant.

The weather cooperated perfectly with sunshine, blue skys, and temps in the 70s F to enjoy some sights between meetings, and it was a perfect balance of work and exploration.

Back to Work in Cleveland

The energy didn’t stop in Chicago. The past two days have been packed with appointments in Cleveland meeting with manufacturers and business leaders who are ready to embrace the opportunities ahead. It’s been a whirlwind, but exactly the kind that fuels me. There’s more to come this weekend in Erie, Pa., a little break on Sunday to enjoy authentic Indian chicken curry cooked for me in my home, then back to appointments on Monday and Tuesday with manufacturing partners.

All told, FABTECH reminded me of something important: technology will keep evolving, but relationships and strategy are what turn innovation into results. I’m grateful for the partnerships, conversations, and experiences that are shaping the work ahead.
